We are Oxford Black Medics' Society and are passionate about building an inclusive and cohesive community of black medical students across the 6 years of the Oxford medical school. We hope to make black medical students feel welcome in Oxford and provide an opportunity to meet people from similar backgrounds. From welfare support, to social opportunities, to making black leaders in medicine visible via academic talks, OBMS provides a variety of events for members each university term.
A long-term aim of the society is to increase representation of black medical students at Oxford University. We aim to foster a sense of community amongst black medical students and doctors with a passion for improving black representation at all levels of the healthcare sector through access and outreach schemes.
